Levi Strauss at Home and Abroad
The juvenile manufacturing of San Antonio, Texas, begin making infants and children's garments in a plant on South Zarzamora Street in the 1920s; in the 1930s, the company switched to boys and men's clothing and changed their name Santone Industries. so many sport for &, which had eventually decided to buy out the company. In 1981, Levi Strauss paid 10 million dollars and took over operations on Zarzamora Street. 6 years later after withdrawing from China because of human rights violations, Levi Strauss reported in April 1998 that it went resume manufacturing is closed there. Of course, the company denied their decision and it was related to is having just closed Circle us plants, but the reversal of the China policy provoked an outcry among humans Rights group, who accused Levi Strauss of putting profits before is self-proclaimed concerned for workers.
I say sometimes that America is a five-star hotel compared to most countries. China needs to improve 3 human rights laws and policies. Unfortunately, there are companies care about saving money and making money than they do for their employees. China is a type of country that will put you in prison for spitting on the ground. Unfortunately, cheap Asian labor is a high priority for executive Philip and his company has long favorite places like in donation in China, where pay is poor and labor unions are suppressed. I think that we need to make better jobs for China or at least benefits for these workers. Chinese labor unions and so does other countries. And these workers need more than $2.20 a day. The Vietnamese need to increase the $10 weekly wage.
At least Levi Strauss offer displaced workers up to $6,000 each to help them make the transition into New Field after giving to 8 months notice of the layoffs. But $6,000 is not enough for anything, is not enough for a family of four but it is not enough for a person who lives alone by American Standards. It might be enough and other countries, but not enough here. They need to increase the $6,000. I owe $5,000 to CSU, if I can pay off CSU the five grand I owe them but they'll leave me like $1,000.
